Celebrating Some Missed Milestones with Apple #30 (part two)

First things first.

I missed the one year anniversary

and I missed the nice round ‘100th’ announcement

and they both need to be celebrated.

Today is my 106th blog post!

(whistle, whistle, stomp, clap)

My first post was September 3, 2010, on the occasion of Gabriel and Jacob’s first day back to school, so I have been blogging for a year (and one day shy of) 3 months.

(insane whistling, stomping and clapping)

And what a better way to celebrate than to gift myself with an apple?

No, not a new one.

But do you remember Apple #30?

Well, I never did make it back to Shelley’s pottery studio to glaze my lovely clay apple, but thanks to my friends Shelley and Colleen (who took matters into their own hands – literally), I am able to present to you the finished version of Apple #30.

Apple #30 – Part Two

Title: Shelley’s Appley Gift (Completed)

Medium: glazed and fired clay

(Let me interrupt this regular broadcast to let you know that Shelley’s pottery is available at the Chair of Bowlies in Olds, Alberta and Shelley will be there next Saturday evening, December 10 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm for a Christmas open house. Pop in and say hello. She does beautiful work!)

And now back to regular programming.

They also finished my bowl for me.

Amazing, isn’t it?

It’s a testament to their generosity of spirit that they even call it ‘Maxine’s bowl.’ Yes, I did play with that lump of clay on the wheel for awhile, but it was Shelley’s fingers that coaxed it into that perfect shape.

And Colleen who did whatever you have to do to get the nice flat bottom.

And Shelley who glazed and fired it.

They even etched my name on the bottom.

That’s Smax (as in Smacks – as in kisses – from Max(ine)

Which is the email way I sign my name when I’m feeling sassy or cheeky or some variation thereof.

The more ‘artistic’ version is

which translates into

a kiss

and a hug

a smile

and a wink

all wrapped up in a big, cushy cuddle

When I leave notes for my boys, I sign them like this:

So for you

on the auspicious occasion of this 106th post

(and perhaps at the end of every post from this day forward)
